Purpose of the driving test

The purpose of the driving test is to ensure that you have achieved all the objectives of the syllabus and have the knowledge required to drive a motorcycle in traffic. You should be able to handle the motorcycle in a safe, mature and sensible manner! Even if you already have a MC card for another qualification, you still need to take the driving test for the new qualification.

When can I do the motorcycle test?

Motorcycle driving tests are held during the summer months, starting in April and running until the end of October. You also need to have a pass proficiency test to be able to take the driving test. If you are a student at Jarla Trafikskola, we will book the driving test/theory test for you before the MC training so you avoid unnecessary waiting times when you have completed all the elements! In order to take the motorcycle test at Jarla Trafikskola you need:

  1. Pass and pass all elements of the MC training
  2. Risk education 1 MCand Risk education 2 MC
  3. Get an approved training check
  4. Passed theory test

Then you're ready for the run-up!

Before riding a motorcycle

Before the motorcycle driving we meet at Jarla Trafikskola. You will then meet your teacher who will give you a briefing on how the driving test works. You will do a safety check together so you know what is expected during the driving test. We will refuel the motorcycle and choose the protective equipment that you will use during the test. You will also have the opportunity to warm up and ride on our driving track so you will be warm in your clothes. If you have any questions before it's time for your driving test, you can of course ask your instructor. We will go together to the Transport Agency where you will do the motorcycle test. Don't forget to bring a valid ID!

  • We perform a joint security check
  • Warm up on our runway
  • We go with you to the drive
How does the driving test work?

If you have been trained at Jarla Trafikskola, your driving instructor will accompany you on the day of your driving test. When you take the driving test at the Finnish Transport Agency, you must be able to prove your identity with a valid identity document.

The driving test for motorcycles includes the following elements:

  • Security control
  • Manoeuvring test
  • Traffic in and outside urban areas
Driving a motorcycle - step by step

Here's how to drive a motorcycle, step by step. Remember to arrive in good time and be well prepared.

  1. ID check - It is important that you bring a valid ID!
  2. Registration certificate (if you drive up privately with your own motorcycle).
  3. Safety check - If you find any breaks on the bike, you should be able to come up with improvement measures yourself.
  4. Manoeuvring tests - Low speed and High speed.
  5. Brake test - To test your ability to brake steadily and effectively. Brake to a standstill when driving at 70 km/h and 90 km/h.
  6. Road test - Driving in traffic. The rider rides behind another motorcycle and communication is usually by microphone/earpiece.
  7. Results - Whether you pass or fail, you'll know your result immediately.
  8. Driver test protocol - The driver examiner fills in the driver test protocol where you can see which elements went well/not so well.
Protective equipment

The person who is going to carry out the motorcycle drive needs to wear appropriate protective equipment designed for motorcycle driving. This means protective clothing made of strong material, safety glasses, sturdy boots/boots, gloves, back protection and a helmet. Jarla Trafikskola has all the equipment you need!

What happens after the run-up for the MC?

When you have finished the run-up, you will be informed of your result immediately. If the driver examiner judges the result to be pass, the result is sent to the Swedish Transport Agency, which creates and issues the driving licence within five working days. While you are waiting for your driving licence, you may drive the vehicle for which you have passed within Sweden. However, you must always carry a valid identity document!

If you don't pass the motorcycle test, the test results will be sent to your email address so you can see what you need to practise more on. After the test, you will meet one of our motorcycle driving instructors and can book additional lessons.

  • Get your results instantly
  • Opportunity for additional lessons
